History Caching

An index of history related geocaches throughout the United States. The following is a Work in Progress list of geocaches, opencaches and terracaches with a theme of historic significance around the United States. If a historical area does not have a history themed geocache then a local one is chosen.

At this years event, we will be doing some neat things like a Webinar for Geocachers interested in history click here for the survey.

Other geocachers with an interest in history are invited to submit their entries by making a comment to this blog with the link to their favorite historycaches. Become a follower to this growing list by scrolling to the bottom of this list and enter your email address to subscribe.

Here are a few that I personally own in Oregon, but when I'm off work and a little less busy I can post some that others have hidden in Oregon. This is a great site!

I'm hoping to get a chance to post some more historically themed caches in the town where I live (Junction City, OR) we actually went to a town hall meeting and got permission from the local historical society to place geocaches at historical spots in town!

Very nice idea you have here. My mother and I will be collaborating on a series on the eastern shore of Maryland that focuses on Civil War history of the area. I'll post it here when we're done.
